Glitter Ball 4: A Night in Andy Warhol’s Factory
-featuring-
“The Factory Kids”
A group of local visual artists conjoined by Danika Leitheiser Artwork have collaborated and developed an outstanding showcase for Glitter Ball 4. They are known as “The Factory Kids”. Each of the featured artists are displaying a large selection of their portfolios consisting of a variety of mediums and works ranging from original paintings to framed photography, and have also created a few pieces exclusively for the event.
The Factory Kids mutual goal is to deliver a show that is visually stimulating, interactive and most importantly theme related. Similar to the local musicians who are covering bands from the 60′s and 70′s, The Factory Kids have cultivated a way to “cover” artistic works as tribute to certain visual artists of that era.
Each artist will have an organized showcase spread throughout the venue. There will be a pre-Glitter Ball 4 gallery showing, with music performed by “Not Like This”. Visual work will be labeled accordingly including the name of the piece, date completed, and availability for desired purchase. Each artist will also select one of their pieces on display to be sold during the show with the proceeds specifically benefiting The Youth Performance Company. These works will be clearly labeled as such. Each showcase will have large signs with the featured artists name, affiliation and phone number enabling interested patrons to contact the certain artist immediately via text message in order to purchase a desired piece of artwork. Pieces will be marked as sold shortly following a sale. Local Visual Artist CL Martian has committed to showcasing a gorgeous statue of Edie Sedgwick- who was Andy Warhol’s muse for a large portion of his career.
A 2500 square foot studio in the upper balcony will be open to the public. This room is being assigned as an interactive art room. Visual artists have put together a way for people to create artwork with The Factory Kids, ranging from sculpture to screen printing and stenciling. The Factory Kids wanted to create an area as such to better support the feel of an art studio, and give the public an idea of how artists work in their spaces. Materials are being supplied by the artists. They will be available and attentive to interested parties to guide them through private complimentary sessions throughout the evening.
